Located on Main Street Highlands, in the heart of the
beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, this historic 31-room
inn,
locally referred to as the
Crown Jewel of Highlands, offers our guests the
gracious Southern mountain hospitality of yesteryear
amidst everyday
conveniences for the modern traveler.
As you step into the warm, welcoming lobby you will step
back into history of times long ago. A time when
Highlands began to acquire its upscale resort
reputation, a role that Highlands Inn was an integral
part. Each season the horse-drawn carriages of wealthy
southerners, mostly from the coastal lowlands, journeyed
the 4180' elevation through the Blue Ridge to Highlands
to escape the heat of summer.
The
Inn has maintained its exterior and interior personality
through the past 127 years. An annex was added to the
Inn in the 1970s and renovations to the Inn took place
in 1989. During the renovation, the Inn's decor was
researched and restored in a country manner. Guests
appreciate our antique furnishings, colonial paints, wall
coverings and stenciling by master artists.
During the winter of 2006 the Theatre Room was
completely renovated to a look and feel reminiscent of a
late 1800’s Victorian parlor. The new Speakeasy Room
featuring dark hardwood floors, and two fireplaces to
warm up the body and the soul, is perfect of rehearsal
dinners, wedding receptions, banquets, dinner parties
and business meetings.
Highlands Inn, open between the months of April through
November, is the perfect place for a vacation, weekend
getaway or group function. Our guests enjoy exploring
the endless nooks and crannies and entertaining their
guests in the Speakeasy Room, the rock garden or the
rooftop terrace.
The Inn has been listed on the National Registry for
Historic Places since 1991.

Did
you know..........
that if you drew a line from New Orleans to New York and
